As co-leads of the Have Feelings? group, Luke Scaros and I love sharing what’s keeping us engaged and how we’re growing (in) our own lives.
This September, Luke Scaros has been busy building his physical healing space in Brunswick, Maryland. Enjoy a photo of Luke and his new digs!
He’s also looking forward to traveling to Oaxaca, Mexico in October for the Eurotas Conference of Transpersonal Medicine.
Meanwhile, I've spent September reviewing the final proofs of my forthcoming edited book, Improvising With and In Higher Education: All Together Now (Palgrave). I also begin a new academic term with my classes in human development at the University of Washington Tacoma. My social therapeutic group with graduate students and faculty in higher education also starts back up.
We’re grateful for all these exciting projects and opportunities. At the same time, we’re reminded of how easy it is to stay caught up in busyness—whether it’s building, teaching, traveling, or writing. Life often pulls us toward activity and accomplishment. But just as important is making time to slow down, step out of our routines, and create space simply to feel and to connect with others.
That’s why Have Feelings? exists. Each month, we gather online to co-create a playful, supportive environment where feelings—whatever they are—are welcomed and socialized. It’s not about having the “right” emotions, but about making room for what shows up when we come together.
Our next free gathering of Have Feelings? will take place on Tuesday, September 30th, from 4:00–5:30 p.m. Eastern Time (US and Canada) on Zoom. We’d love for you to join us—whether you’re curious, in need of a pause, or simply wanting to connect with others who are practicing feeling together.
Come as you are, and let’s see what we can create together.
