Improvising With and In Higher Education: All Together Now — Now Available for Pre-Order!
I’m thrilled to share that the book I’ve been editing—Improvising With and In Higher Education: All Together Now (Palgrave)—is now available for pre-order through Palgrave Macmillan and other major booksellers.
This collection brings together educators, administrators, staff, students, and community members to explore how improvisational theater (improv) practices can help us reimagine and enliven higher education. Organized into 13 scenes and 9 interludes, the book offers moments where improv helped build trust, deepen engagement, and transform activity across classrooms, faculty engagement, administrative settings, research, and community work.
What makes this book especially unique is how it was created: through improvisational practices like “Yes, and…,” collaborative play, and ensemble-building. These weren’t just ideas we discussed—they were the ways we wrote, edited, and organized the book itself.
To celebrate and share more about this process and the possibilities it opens, I’ll be giving an interactive virtual talk next week:
????️ Date: Wednesday, May 29
???? Time: 4:00–5:00 PM (Pacific Time)
???? Location: Zoom (registration required)
???? Register here
This interactive session includes group activities to warm us up and close us out—true to the book’s spirit. If you’re curious about how we can make higher education more playful, relational, and alive, I’d love for you to join.
Let’s co-create something new—all together now.
